As an Atlanta area native, I attended Laurel Ridge Elementary and Shamrock High School in Decatur, Georgia. After graduating high school, I attended the University of Georgia and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. I then enrolled at West Georgia College where I earned my teaching certificate. I worked in the Teacher Materials Center at West Georgia College. I was also a substitute teacher for Carrollton City Schools and Carroll County Schools. I began teaching in Douglas County in 1985. I then accepted a job in Decatur, Georgia at the Lullwater School in 1989 and taught Kindergarten there for 17 years. In 1993, I was named Teacher of the Year. I then began working at Richards Middle School in Lawrenceville, Georgia as a teacher in the Special Education Department. During my 27 years of teaching, I have worked with children with neurobehavioral conditions including ADD, ADHD, Autism, Learning Disabilities, as well as behavioral issues. In my spare time I enjoy reading, walking, and swimming.
